Sammamish is a city located in King County, encompassing an area of roughly 24 square miles. The city is nestled on a plateau approximately 20 miles east of Seattle and is bordered on the west by Lake Sammamish and the Snoqualmie Valley on its east.

The name “Sammamish” is a Snoqualmie name derived from two Native American words: “Samena,” which translates to “hunter,” and “mish,” meaning people. Mostly a rural area prior to incorporation, increased development of suburban homes, schools, and shopping districts between the 1970s and 1980s prompted a movement to incorporate it as a city, which happened years later on August 31, 1999.

Today, Sammamish is recognized as one of the best small towns in America by numerous publications like Money Magazine and Wallethub. The city is currently home to over 65,000 residents who all enjoy an exceptional quality of life, thanks to its top-rated schools served by the Issaquah and Lake Washington school districts, outstanding recreational opportunities, excellent real estate options, and picturesque location right next to one of the Pacific Northwest’s most beautiful lakes.
